Coffee Festival 2021

 La Trinidad Valley

The municipality of La Trinidad celebrates the Coffee Festival from December 7 to 11, 2021 at the La Trinidad Municipal Park.

As the municipality is opening up to leisure travelers, festivals such as this help promote La Trinidad’s coffee industry to the public. With the theme “Seng-ew ni kape, Tonos ni Umidi,” the festival will feature a Coffee Forum, a Search of the Best Coffee-Inspired Cake Token, and Coffee Art the Park. At the opening program, messages of support were shared by the different National Government Units including DOT-CAR.

OIC-Regional Director Jovita Ganongan underscored the role of the coffee growers/farmers and farm operators in creating a value added tourism product that will highlight La Trinidad’s farm tourism offerings in addition to the already existing strawberry and flower industry.

Eden Cawang, also known by her tribal name “Ayonna,” is a native of Benguet belonging to the Ibaloi tribe of La Trinidad. She is a prolific artist whose love for color and detail has allowed her to carve her own niche in the world of art. Her works pulsate with life and many elements that manifest her rich culture and heritage.

She has been active in advocating art and has been constantly participating in her locality’s creative projects and events. This is evident in her being a member of the barangay team that won a government beautification award for The Great Wall of Bahong Roses, Mural Arts of the Rose Capital of the Philippines, ADIVAY Awards in 2016. The same beautification project won second place in the ADIVAY Awards 2017 and third runner-up in the Strawberry Festival awards in 2018.

Cawang has always been a resource speaker for indigenous culture and the arts since 2015. Her love for and dedication to the arts has seen her exhibiting her works in nine (9) international exhibits with four (4) exhibits in Asia beginning in 2009, and reached semi-finalist for a painting competition held in Abu Dhabi in 2010. She has since had ten (10) solo exhibitions in the Philippines, and has continued to maintain and nurture her “Colours of the Culture Series of Paintings” up to the present.
